Werner Introduces New Leading Edge Fall Protection Lanyards to Help Pros Access a Higher Standardâ„¢
Jul 20, 2020
Made with aircraft-grade steel cable and innovative DeCoil™ technology, Werner’s new fall protection lanyards are safe for steel and concrete structures.
Itasca, IL, July 20, 2020 – Werner, the world leader in ladders and manufacturer of climbing products and fall protection equipment, announces a new addition to its collection of fall protection lanyards. The new 6’ leading edge lanyards keep contractors safe while working on the world’s biggest projects. The new lineup of lanyards has been tested and approved for leading edge use over steel beams, B-Deck and precast concrete - the primary materials used in the largest, most challenging building projects.
“These new lanyards really show how safety is in our DNA,” said Eric Miller, director of product management at Werner. “As a team, we’re dedicated to fall protection, which includes post-fall safety. We already have an excellent selection of lanyards that provide advanced features, styles and attributes, but leading edge workers on steel and concrete structures have unique safety needs. We use aircraft-grade steel cables that can stand strong against other tough materials, and our innovative DeCoil technology decreases impact at the end of a fall. Those factors ensure that our leading edge fall protection lanyards perform when it matters most.”
High Performance and Safe Access at Height
Building on Werner’s legacy of leadership in fall protection, these lanyards have been tested and approved for leading edge use over steel beam, B-Deck and precast concrete. Available in four models, each lanyard is made from ¼-inch 7x19 vinyl-coated galvanized aircraft grade steel cable for strength and durability. These new products are rated for a 12-foot free fall for users up to 310 pounds and up to 400 pounds for a six-foot free fall.
Built with Werner’s innovative DeCoil technology, the new leading edge lanyards each utilize a DCELL shock pack, a deceleration device used to reduce the fall arrest force. This device reduces the risk of serious injury that could be caused by falling to the end of a static cable, allowing the lanyard to absorb some of the force of the fall rather than transferring all of it to the user’s body. Each new leading edge lanyard also features a snap hook to connect to the user’s harness, which provides an audible signal that the hook is securely fastened, as well as distinctive yellow and black “leading edge” labels. The new 6’ lanyards are available in four different configurations:
- Single leg with snap hook anchorage connector
- Twin leg with snap hook anchorage connector
- Single leg with rebar hook anchorage connector
- Twin leg with rebar hook anchorage connector
Werner’s new collection of 6’ leading edge fall protection lanyards is now available nationally. For more information about lanyards and other Werner Fall Protection products, please visit https://www.wernerco.com/us/support/fall-protection-information.
